Domaine Gilles Noblet, Pouilly-Fuisse, 2018 - $26.99
Located in Fuissé, the heart of the southern Mâconnais, the domaine represents the best artisan traditions of the region: respect for the different “terroirs”, low yields in the vineyards, and meticulous winemaking that expresses both the Chardonnay fruit and the characteristics of the vineyard site. In a region dominated by high volume cooperatives and the labels of negociants, Noblet’s wines show the quality that can be attained with a more personal and artisanal approach to wine production.
A racy, high-quality Chardonnay with very intense aromas of pear and nectarine, enhanced by a dash of spice. Good freshness and perfect balance. Fine mineral finish.
Guy Amiot et Fils,"Cuvee Simone", Bourgogne Pinot Noir, 2017 - $26.99
Founded in 1920 by Arsene Amiot the domaine includes parcels of old vines in 9 premier cru sites in Chassagne, with one each in Puligny-Montrachet and St. Aubin, and the Grand Cru Le Montrachet. Considered among the leading producers in the appellation, it is now run by brothers Fabrice and Thierry Amiot. The style is full-flavored, well-balanced and finely nuanced wines, expressing the unique terroir of each site. Amiot makes small amounts of very elegant red wines with true Côtes de Beaune character and offers a classic and balanced expression of Pinot Noir, Burgundy's classic red.
Lovely bright and shiny ruby color with an expressive and open nose carrying elegant red fruit notes (blackcurrant, cherry, blackcurrant) followed by slightly spicy and undergrowth (sous-bois) flavors. In mouth, the wine is round and fruity with a good tannic structure.
