"Bob Untiedt was without a doubt the most humble, cheerful, loyal, kind, empathetic and calm person I have ever had the pleasure to know. I do not use these adjectives lightly. They epitomize the man. Each of these traits is admirable on its own; to see them all in one person is miraculous. Bob and Beckie started Graham's Chocolates on a shoestring, in a small space above my wine shop in the Berry House, before moving across the street and taking over an entire building. Graham's is now a jewel of the Fox Valley, perhaps the most well-known business on Third Street. People from Chicago to Milwaukee and beyond think of Graham's Chocolates when you mention Geneva, Illinois to them. Not once did Bob allow his success to inflate his ego, distinguishing him from most other successful businessmen. Bob was loved unconditionally by his family and his employees, the ultimate testament to his character and his legacy. And the sly grin that Bob flashed occasionally… his dry but playful sense of humor, his love for 1960s culture (especially old Volkswagens) … his passion and talent for music … all intoxicating! I shall miss him dearly." ~ Al Buchanan, Owner Geneva Wine Cellars
"Bob's Joie de Vivre will live with us always. His smile, his kindness and his spirit touched everyone he met. I never heard a negative word from him and he was so generous. One of the last times I saw him he came in to buy Champagne (real Champagne!) for his staff who had just opened their renovated café. I will miss him but remain inspired by all he was." ~ Liz Kowal, Geneva Wine Cellars Sommelier
"Bob was always so excited to talk about his new experiments and creations. His explanations as to why he chose certain ingredients inspired me to begin thinking about food science in a different light, and his quest for unique synergies informed my own approach to food and wine pairing. Of course, it wasn't all shop talk, as we also had a lot of good conversations about music and design". ~ Tim Campbell, Geneva Wine Cellars Sommelier
